First opened in 3rd September 1996 Hotel Stupa is a family run hotel and has since been a home away from home to many of the tourists visiting the enchanting city of Pokhara.
This big stone-clad place on the alley beside Hotel Mountain Top has a pleasing air of grandeur. It’s a cut above the surrounding hotels and there are balconies on every level. The decor is a bit flowery but rooms are very comfortable.
Only a handful of places in Pokhara fill the gap between mid-range and top end and Hotel Stupa punches well above when it comes to facilities and service. The halls are lined with shimmering white marble and rooms are cosy and modern, though the flowery sheets and curtains can take some getting used to.
Don’t be put off by the flashy lobby – prices are quite reasonable, particularly when you consider the facilities. There’s a small restaurant and parking area and the communal balconies offer inspiring views of the Annapurna Himalaya. It’s obvious where the name comes from – the building and grounds are full of scale models of the stupa at Bodhnath.
Located on a prime location right in the heart of the popular lake side haunt of the city, Hotel Stupa consists of unique stone houses complemented by a distinct brand of hospitality, its convenient location too (just 10 minutes from the airport, a 7-minute taxi ride from the tourist bus station and within easy reach f the major places of interest and shopping areas) is an added bonus.
The hotel has 35 well-equipped deluxe rooms with private balconies. Each room has multi channel colour TV, telephone and attached bathroom with 24 hr hot and cold shower. All rooms offer magnificent view of the mountains and the Phewa lake.
